JOB DESCRIPTION: The Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic surgeon (new graduate to mid-career) to join the Acute Care Surgery (ACS) Service at Grady Health System. The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, having completed a 2-year AAST Trauma and Critical Care fellowship. Grady Memorial Hospital the only ACS-verified Level 1 trauma center in Atlanta with approximately 10,000 trauma admissions annually, serving the Atlanta community and acting as a referral center for surrounding hospitals. The applicant would be joining a group of 15 Acute Care Surgeons and three (3) Non-Surgical Intensivists on the ACS service at Grady. Clinical responsibilities include coverage of the Trauma Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, and Surgical ICU services at Grady, as well as teaching trainees at all levels and participating in clinical research and programmatic development. As part of Emory School of Medicine in partnership with Grady Health System and Morehouse School of Medicine, there is access to a broad spectrum of academic opportunities including a multi-disciplinary network of collaborators for clinical care, research, community outreach, and systems development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree (D.O.). Must hold a valid and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia. Board Eligible or Board Certified preferred. Hold a valid DEA certificate without restriction. Experience in outpatient medical practice preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Must be computer literate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
